Isle of Man – Manx Heritage – Sunday 19th June to Thursday 23rd June 2022 (5 Days)
The Isle of Man is a rugged kingdom that despite being only a short distance from the British Mainland has a rich folklore and unique culture developed over hundreds of years. The island has many attractions including a steam railway and one of the oldest working tramways in the world. Our hotel is the four star Best Western Palace Hotel, centrally situated on Douglas’s Promenade.
Sunday: – Following an early start we drive to Heysham to board the afternoon ferry to Douglas.
Monday: – Today we travel south to visit Castle town and Port Erin where we return to Douglas on the Isle of Man Steam Railway.
Tuesday: – After breakfast we take the Manx Electric Railway to Laxey famous for the great Maxey Wheel. We then join the Snaefell Mountain Railway for a return journey to the summit (2036ft) from which on a clear day it is possible to view the four countries of the U.K. We then drive to Peel on the west coast.
Wednesday: – Free time in Douglas with an included ride along the Promenade in the horse-drawn tram. There is also a free museum full of treasures illustrating the islands 10000-year history’ Douglas has been the Island’s capital since 1863and the beautiful seafront and popular high street are lined with a variety of locally owned stores giving us plenty to see and do.
Thursday: – Following an early breakfast it is time to board the return ferry to Heysham from which we return home along the motorways arriving back in Enfield Town by approximately 10.00pm.
