Sunday 1st June to Saturday 7th June 2025 (7 Days)
Oban, Isle of Mull and The Western Highlands of Scotland
The more one tours in Scotland the more fascinating it becomes. The Lochs, the mountains and the glens, ever changing, ever beautiful. Our touring holiday brings us to yet another different part of this beautiful country. The holiday is centred in Oban known as the gateway to the Isles and our hotel is the 3 star “Royal Hotel”, located in the town centre. The holiday includes an optional excursion on the “Jacobite Express” steam train described as one of the best steam train journeys in the world.
Sunday: Travel northwards along the A.1, stopping at Brampton Garden Centre (coffee break), Wetherby (lunch break) and the Riverdale Hotel, Bellingham situated near the Keilder Forest for the night
Monday: We continue northwards to reach our lunch stop at Aberfoyle, in the Trossachs and then through Glen Dochart with its dramatic Highland Scenery to Crianlarich (tea break) before driving through the Pass of Brander to reach our hotel in Oban.
Tuesday: We board the ferry to the Isle of Mull and then drive up the island to Tobermory, an attractive village noted for its many buildings that are painted in bright colours making it a popular location for television programmes.
Wednesday: Today we have the option of either spending the time in Oban or taking the coach to Fort William Station for a return journey on the “Jacobite Steam Train” which must be one of the best scenic railway journeys in the world. The 42 mile trip takes us through some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland and featured as the “Hogwarts Express” in Harry Potter films. This excursion costs an extra £80 and is entirely optional. There is plenty to see in Oban from a visit to the local Whiskey Distillery, boat trip to Iona or climb to the top of “McCaig’s Folly Tower”.
Thursday: The morning is free in Oban and in the afternoon, we have a short excursion taking us over “The Bridge over the Atlantic” to Seil Island (tea break).
Friday: Homeward bound along the Pass of Brander to Inverary (coffee break), Loch Lomond Shores (lunch break), Moffat (tea break) to our overnight stop in Cumbria.
Saturday: Our homeward journey continues along the motorways, a stop for lunch being made at the Trentham Shopping Village and tea at Northampton Services. The tour is scheduled to be back in Enfield Town by approximately 7.30pm.
