THE MAJESTY OF LAKELAND
Friday 14th June to Monday 17th June 2024 (4 Days)
It is impossible not to be moved by the majestic scenery of the Lake District for all that is best, dramatic, restful and wild in Britain’s scenery is here. “Our holiday is based at the “Shap Wells Hotel” which lies in a secluded valley surrounded by wild Lakeland countryside.
Friday: Outward along the Great North Road stopping near Peterborough (coffee break), Harrogate ( lunch break) and then across the Yorkshire Dales to arrive at our hotel during the early evening.
Saturday: Following a leisurely breakfast we have a grand tour of the Southern Lakes visiting Windermere (coffee break), Coniston (lunch break) and in the afternoon enjoy a cruise along Coniston Water aboard the Victorian Steam Yacht “Gondola” equipped with her sumptuously restored upholstered saloon.
Sunday: Another classic tour of the area that takes us over the Kirkstone Pass to Grasmere (coffee break). We continue around Keswick and over the Whinlatter Pass to reach Cockermouth for lunch, returning to our hotel via Caldbeck (tea break) noteworthy as the burial place of John Peel.
Monday: Return home by way of the scenery of the Yorkshire Dales stopping at the Wesleydale Creamery (coffee break), Ripon (lunch break) and Peterborough Services (tea break).
The tour is scheduled to arrive back in Enfield Town by approximately 7.00pm
