BEDFORD MARKET AND THE SWISS GARDEN
26th May 2021
Drive direct to Bedford noteworthy for the Bunyan Museum, Art Gallery and tranquil strolls along the banks of the River Ouse. It also has an open-air market and a fine pedestrianised covered shopping precinct. We spend the afternoon at the unique and unusual “Swiss-style” garden, dating from the early 19th century, where the follies have all been recently restored. The garden contains picturesque features hidden in an undulating 9 acre landscape containing magnificent trees and ornamental shrubs arranged in a series of glades and winding walks to provide unexpected vistas. Time for tea in the garden before arriving home by approximately 7.00pm.
