Brunel’s Bristol (SS Great Britain) – Saturday 5th April 2025
5th April 2025
The City of Bristol will always be associated with the achievements of the great Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Having brought the GWR to the city he set about extending the railway across the Atlantic Ocean to America by building the first steamship in the world, SS Great Britain. Today we have the opportunity of exploring this great vessel, seeing how the early passengers lived and slept as they travelled across the Atlantic. There is also an exhibition on the life and works of the great engineer. Nearby we notice the John Cabot Tower and replica of the sailing boat ‘Michael’ in which Cabot discovered America. There is also the Bristol Industrial Museum (admission free) that explains the rise of the Aviation industry and it is possible to use the ferry to ride into the city centre. Home by approximately 8.00pm
Pick Up Group: C
Fare: £56.00 (includes admission to SS Great Britain)
Please Note:
This trip will also be making the drop off for our trip going to Bristol Harbourside
