CITY OF COLCHESTER AND SPARKLING ESTUARIES
6th September 2021
Break for coffee at the Tiptree Lordship Tea Rooms before continuing to Colchester, England’s oldest town. Here the narrow streets are a reminder of the town’s 400-year old links with the Dutch Cloth Industry. During the afternoon we drive through the backwaters of Essex and across the Abberton Reservoir known for its interesting wildlife and birdwatching. We shall stop for tea in the remote estuary of the River Blackwater near Heybridge where on a sunny day the water sparkles like diamonds.
Home by approximately 7.00pm.
