COLCHESTER AND TEMPLE BARNS

A new tour that stops for a break at the Lordship Tea Rooms before continuing to Colchester England’s oldest town where narrow streets are a reminder of the town’s 400-year-old links with the Dutch Cloth Industry During the afternoon we drive along the backwaters of Essex across the Abberton Reservoir noted for its wildlife and birdwatching to visit the incredible Temple Barns (admission free), which are over 800 years old and over 400feet long. Nestled to one side of the barn is the walled garden which dates from 16th century inspired by an age when gardens combined beauty with functionality. Time for tea at the Barns before arriving home by approximately 6.30pm.
