A new tour that stops at Denbies Winery in the Surrey Hills for coffee and then drives into the South Downs to reach Arundel in time for lunch break. The town is dominated by its late Castle and RC Cathedral whilst the parish church is very unusual in having a glass screen across the centre dividing the congregation between Catholics and Protestant worshippers. The town also has many antique and art shops. In the afternoon we visit Worthing, having a look at a reproduction of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel ceiling in Goring as we enter the resort. Gavin Bevan spent 51/2 years painting the ceiling despite never having an art lesson. Time for tea in Worthing before arriving home by approximately 7.30pm.
