DENBIES WINERY, ROTTINGDEAN AND BEACHY HEAD

DENBIES WINERY, ROTTINGDEAN AND BEACHY HEAD

12th October 2021

We present a new tour of the South Downs that stops at Denbies Winery for coffee and Rottingdean for lunch. Rudyard Kipling spent five years at Rottingdean whose surrounding hills inspired his famous poem “Sussex” – ‘Our blunt, bow-headed, whale-backed hills’ and there is a small museum of memorabilia in the fishing village. After lunch we drive across the Downs to Burling Gap where the cliffs are being steadily eroded by the sea. There is time for tea here before driving across Beachy Head. We arrive home by approximately 7.30pm.
