A different tour to the Isle of Wight as we drive to Southampton to join the “Red Funnel Steamer” for the cruise along Southampton Water and across The Solent to Cowes where we drive to Haven Street Station to join our steam train for a return journey along the line. There is also time to visit the museum, engine, carriage and wagon workshops at Haven Street along with the refreshment rooms and gift shop.
Alternatively, spend the afternoon at “Osborne House”, Queen Victoria’s country retreat for over 50 years. It was designed by Prince Albert himself to an unusual Italianate design and was where the Queen died in 1901. So, view the many apartments that are preserved as they were when the Queen lived here, including the magnificent Durbur Room and the bedroom where she died. Also enjoy the beautiful gardens with stunning views over The Solent. Refreshments are available in the shop and restaurant.
