Estuaries are magical places. At low ride meandering streams cross shining mudflats and at high tide vast expanses of water reflect the changing light of the wide skies. This interesting tour visits three of the most beautiful estuaries in East Anglia. We stop for a break at the Blake End Craft Centre and then drive to Old Harwich where the rivers Orwell and Stour meet the sea. Time to sense the sea-faring atmosphere of the town’s conservation area before following the Stour to Manningtree. This is regarded as England’s smallest town whilst the river has a huge Swannery which at this time of year is noteworthy for the cygnets. During the afternoon we cross the Orwell to reach Woodbridge the waterside town that stands on the River Deben.
