Winchester and The Mottisfont Winter Garden (National Trust)

18th March 2020

Drive direct to Winchester where there is time for lunch and sightseeing in a city that was once the ‘capital of All England’ and is well known for its cathedral, castle, and military museum as well as a tempting array of old fashioned shops. We spend the afternoon at Mottisfont, the site of the National Trust’s newest winter garden. It contains a number of unusual plants that are at their most beautiful when other plants are in hibernation. The 18th century house with a mediaeval priory at its heart may also be visited. Time for tea at the house before arriving home by approximately 7.00pm
