We stop for a coffee break at Thurrock Services then drive to Bexhill, the seaside resort that was the birthplace of motor racing and whose seafront is dominated by the marvellous De La Warr Pavilion. During the afternoon we experience the alluring magic of steam on one of England’s classic rural railways that now runs for 10 miles between Bodiam and Tenterden. Home by approximately 7.30pm
