Today we visit Salisbury, dominated by its magnificent Cathedral Spire, the tallest in England and home to the original copy of “Magna Carta”. Salisbury is a small mediaeval city in the heart of the countryside but it is also a city of the present with a vibrant modern culture boasting modern day pedestrianised shopping centres as well as the old charter market. In the afternoon we drive across the New Forest to reach Romsey for tea, whose ancient Abbey Church contains the grave of Lord Mountbatten. Home by approximately 7.30pm.
