OLD KENT COAST – WHITSTABLE AND SANWICH – Monday 27th July 2026
Monday 27th July 2026
Today we visit Whitstable famous for Oysters since Roman times and noted for its attractive weather boarded cottages, winding lanes and alleyways that recall its maritime history. In the afternoon we drive around Canterbury to reach Sandwich a mediaeval town that dates from the 14th century and was once a thriving port until the sea retreated. It will always be associated with the Earl of Sandwich who came up with the idea of enjoying beef between two slices of bread in the 18th century! Home by approximately 7.30pm.
